Back in time Chapter one

"Woah. Linda, come check this out. It's, like, a time machine," calls out Brenna, my best friend, from across the room. We're at my schools science fair, cleaning up before the crowd comes. We weren't getting paid.

"What?" I asked, running over to where Brenna was. I had to check this out.

" I don't know. Alex Vanbury made it. The card says that it can transport anybody or anything back in time." Brenna says.

"Oh, well, that explains it," I said, dissapointed. Alex Vanbury had to be the stupidest boy in the school. No way he could make a time machine if, like, Bill Gates hadn't.

"Come on. Let's just try it," Brenna persisted.

"Fine," I grumbled, reading the instruction card next to it. It read:

It might sound to good to be true. A time machine. But it's not. Simply press the red button on the right side, put your hand(s) on top, say the year you want to go to in the past, and you'll be transported to this spot in about 5 seconds.

The card was filled with mistakes and didn't make any sence, but I understood it anyway.

"Come on, Brenna, no way this can work," I said.

"Oh, come on. Nothings gonna happen. You know that," she said.

"Then why do it want to try it in the first place?" I asked.

" I dunno."

Whatever. I pressed the red button, put my hand next to Brennas, and closed my eyes.

"What year?" Brenna asked.

"I dunno. Let's start out simple. 1973."

"I thought you were scared of hippes," Brenna said.

"Oh yeah. 1962, then."

Brenna punched in the numbers 1 9 6 and 2. "Five more seconds" the machine said.

I took a deep breath.

5..... oh god

4.... wat have i done....

3... this isn't gonna work...

2.... hurry up...

1... nice knowing you, world

I opened my eyes. I was standing in a dirt field. Brenna was standing next to me.

"Brenna..."

"It worked," she said.
